I'm Finn Ruderman, a second-year mechanical engineering student at the University of Pittsburgh focused on engineering design, robotics, and sustainable systems. I do my best work on problems that demand technical precision and creative thinking under tight, real-world constraints.
My first year covered the fundamentals, including Foundations of Engineering Design through the Frederick Honors College, and outside of class I built a composting system with Engineers Without Borders for a local community garden, taking it from CAD through construction. This past summer I put those skills on the clock at a local structural engineering firm, where I owned projects on real deadlines and saw how a design changes once a client and a budget weigh in.
This year, I'm using and also building upon the experience I have so far, joining SOAR's Avionics team and the Robotics and Automation Society's Rover Project, working across the mechanical and electrical sides.
I'm early in my career and excited about it. Take a look at my work, and reach out.
